Shree Veera Hanuman Temple has been serving the community by offering free annadaan since its inception. Thousands of free meals have been diligently prepared and served by volunteers every Saturday during lunch and also at dinner time during major festivals in the Temple

Annadaan is supreme and incomparable to any charity. According to the Vedas, since food is the basic requirement for all humans, one who does daan of food to devotees will attains heaven (Punya Loka) in this Universe (Brahmanda) itself.

The deed of Annadaan is said to minimize the sins of the donor. We are doing our best to serve mankind by offering energy in the form of nutritious food to the hungry to help them acquire new enthusiasm for a better tomorrow.Devotees can participate in this sacred offering of food by sponsoring for Annadaan.

Annadaan sponsorship opportunities are available during any of the scheduled dates when food is served to people at the Temple. Sponsors will have archana done on their behalf on the selected Annadaan date and receive a coin as prasad.

Divine Significance

Annadaan holds a divine significance among Hindus since feeding people is considered very sacred. "Annad bhavanti bhootani" - these are the words of Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. It means that all creation is sustained due to food. Helping to assuage a person's hunger will win good karmas in this world and in the next.

Even Lord Shiva once experienced pangs of hunger when his spouse Parvati separated from Him and consecrated Herself as Goddess Annapoorneshwari at Kasi for feeding the living beings.

When Shiva could not sustain without food, he realized that Parvati is indeed the source of food and nourishment. Lord Shiva finally visited Kasi and prayed to the Goddess Annapoorneshwari. Lord Shiva was freed of starvation after accepting alms from Goddess Annapoorneshwari.
